December 9, 2024   Jennifer   Comments Off on How Jennifer Love Hewitt kept her late mom’s memory alive for her children
Interviews Videos

Jennifer Love Hewitt discussed how she keeps her late mother Patricia’s memory alive despite losing her to cancer 12 years ago.

“One day I was like ‘I think it’s time to sort of write down how I feel about her and honor her in some way,’” the actress, 45, told Page Six in an exclusive interview.

The result was “Inheriting Magic: My Journey Through Grief, Joy, Celebration, and Making Every Day Magical” in which Hewitt discusses her grief and the idea of creating magic as a family.

“I think a magic for us in our family and I think for my mom, she was really an intention and sort of a mindset,” the “Ghost Whisperer” star explained. “It was like, ‘How do you look at a normal dinner party and add magic to it?’

“Or, you know, with my kids, we do moon water where we put intentions into this water that we’re going to drink the next day. We set it out on the moon and it’s not expensive. It’s very silly. But again, it’s setting the intention that we’re going to feel magical when we do it.”

Hewitt went on to describe her mom as “the most magical person” she had ever met.

“We were best friends,” she added.

The “I Know What You Did Last Summer” star recalled that her mom would string up Christmas lights in her room “if [she] had a broken heart or bad cramps or whatever it was.”

“She took like ordinary things and sort of added magic to them. And so that’s what I try to do for my kids now,” she continued.

In 2012, Hewiit announced the death of her mother following a cancer battle. She was 67.

“Her family mourns her loss,” the actress’ rep told People at the time. “She was an angel to all who knew her and they are grateful she is now in a better place.”

The “9-1-1” star also described spreading holiday magic with her new TV movie, “The Holiday Junkie,” which she co-wrote, directed and stars in. In it, she plays a woman, who finds love during the holiday season after her mother’s death.

“[It’s a] really sweet movie, it has all the things you want a Christmas movie to have but this one is different because it does deal with grief and it does deal with sadness at the holidays,” she said of the Lifetime movie.

“I really wanted to tell people that it is OK to have both and that a lot of people have both. And that doesn’t mean that you’re not doing Christmas right. It means you’re being real about it and that’s beautiful and that they can both exist at the same time.”

The “Ghost Whisperer” alum also tapped into her real-life relationship for the movie by casting her own husband, Brian Hallisay, as her character’s love interest.

Hewitt said they loved working together, adding, “We have three kids. It was the first time in a long time that we’ve been alone. And it’s just like us without the kids.

“And this was really like a concentrated time where we were getting to create something together. But also our job was to fall in love with each other again every single day for 15 days. It was quite beautiful. I really left the movie going, ‘God, I love this guy. And I’m like super psyched that I’m married to him.’”

Hallisay and Hewitt tied the knot in 2013 and share three kids: Autumn, 11, Atticus, 9, and Aidan, 3.

The “Party of Five” alum will be making her live debut on HSN on Tuesday, where customers who purchase a copy of the book will have a one in five chance of randomly receiving an autographed bookplate.

December 5, 2024   Jennifer   Comments Off on Interview: Jennifer Love Hewitt Talks Collab With Ferrero Rocher, Memoir, & Christmas Movies
Interviews

ComingSoon caught up with actress Jennifer Love Hewitt to discuss her new collab with chocolate brand Ferrero Rocher, her love of hosting and the holidays, plus her new memoir and Lifetime movie. The I Know What You Did Last Summer star also discussed the reboot and several iconic past roles.

“This holiday season, Ferrero Rocher, the iconic premium chocolate brand with a passion for helping people elevate their celebrations, is looking to inspire hosts with simple ways to level up their event to the gold standard with their new campaign, Add Your Golden Touch,” says the official description. “To help bring these helpful hosting inspirations to life, Ferrero Rocher is partnering with beloved actress and self-proclaimed holiday hosting extraordinaire Jennifer Love Hewitt to help share simple ways you can ‘add your golden touch’ with Ferrero Rocher.”

Tyler Treese: Jennifer, you have this really exciting campaign going on with Ferrero Rocher – the great chocolate brand. They’re doing the “Add Your Golden Touch” campaign, which is full of these great hosting tips. Everybody knows that hosting is a lot of fun, but it’s also a lot of work. Could you tell us a little bit about that campaign and what excited you about getting involved with it?

Jennifer Love Hewitt: I was really honored [to be asked] to team up. I consider myself the holiday junkie. So I am a big hostess during the holiday season — really all year long, but definitely during the holiday season. And Ferrero Rocher is such a nostalgic and classic brand. So many people, when we announced our partnership, reached out. “Oh my gosh, I grew up with that chocolate in my house all the time, or my grandma’s house, or my aunt’s house, or my mom’s house.”

So it just feels familiar to people. I’m familiar to people and sort of nostalgic for people as well coming from the nineties. So, it felt like a great partnership. I love their chocolate.

I love what they do. I love that the Golden Touch adds a little bit of magic to the holiday season. It’s a great hosting gift. It’s a great last-minute gift. I love that you can find their chocolates in your local grocery store and reach for them if you’ve forgotten or if you need a last-minute sparkle on your table.

We just had such a good time doing the little ads. When I walked on the set, I was like, “Can I live here? This is so beautiful.” So it was great, and I’m just really honored.

They launched this great website with a bunch of little tips. You can make your own DIY ornaments and these little place cards. They’re really cute, and the chocolate’s legitimately really great as well. Like a perfect stocking stuffer or just to put out. It’s delicious.

Yeah, 100%. I’ve been putting them in my kids’ lunches since we did the since we did ads, and they’re loving it. Now the kids are fighting over Ferrero Rocher at school, which is kinda cute.

You said you’re the holiday junkie. I was curious — what are your holiday movie traditions? I’ve always gotta watch Rudolph, and I’ve gotta watch A Christmas Story. Those are the two for me.

Oh yeah. I always start my Christmas movie year out with The Holiday. It’s my favorite. But I’m also a big Christmas TV movie fan, so I watch all the Christmas movies when they come on. I’m really lucky to get to be in one this year, which is awesome. But yeah, we definitely do that. Right now Aiden, my three-year-old, is very much into The Grinch. So we have Grinch on all day, all night over and over and over.

You’re not just part of a holiday movie this year. You directed The Holiday Junkie, which is incredible. I know you’ve directed television episodes, but what was the biggest change of doing a full movie? Was anything surprising, or did all that time on set kind of prepare you for it?

So, we only had 15 days to shoot, which was crazy. [laughs] It was wild. So we shoot like a 9-1-1 episode in eight to nine days, and that’s a certain page count. This was double that page count. Plus, I was in everything.

It was a lot, but it was amazing. I love directing so much. I wish I could just do that full-time. And we just had a great time. It was surprising to me how much I enjoyed having Christmas in June. I was like, “Is this gonna make me sick of Christmas early in the year?” And it didn’t happen. I just loved it. It was great.

Tyler Treese: I’m really excited to watch that. Your husband stars in the film with you, as well. How is it directing your significant other? He already knows to obey your rule, right?

Well, I have to be bossy, so that’s great. ’cause I love to be bossy.

So it was like, “Guys, you know what? I have to boss you around. I’m so sorry to my friends and my family.” [But] that was nice. It gave me an excuse to do that. [And] he is so wonderful in this movie. He has not done a Christmas movie before. I think he should be in all of them. He’s a perfect Christmas movie guy, just dreamy, talented… all the things. We had a lot of fun getting to fall in love with each other every day. It was great.

You have a memoir coming out as well. It’s such an exciting time for you. It’s called Inheriting Magic: My Journey Through Grief, Joy, Celebration, and Making Everything Magical. What are you most excited about people to experience when they can pick it up on December 10th?

Just getting to know a little bit about me and my family. We’re pretty private about that stuff, but this felt like a really nice way to share. Also hoping to inspire people to add the intention of their own sort magic into their families a little bit more every day, and being able to honor my mom was really a blessing for me. Not only just in life but in my grief journey. It felt really special to honor her this way.

December 4, 2024   Jennifer   Comments Off on Jennifer Love Hewitt Was Afraid ‘Boy Meets World’ Cast Wouldn’t Think She Was ‘Funny’
Interviews

Jennifer Love Hewitt had the time of her life filming one of Boy Meets World’s most famous episodes with ex-boyfriend Will Friedle.

“Oh my god, I loved it,” Hewitt, 45, exclusively told Us Weekly while promoting her upcoming holiday projects. “First of all, I genuinely watched that show. I also truly believe that Will is one of the best comedic actors, like, ever. So brilliant and so funny. So I was really nervous to be on it [because I was a fan]. And I remember very clearly thinking, like, ‘Oh my God, they’re going to think that I can’t act and I’m not funny.”

Hewitt appeared on the season 5 episode “And Then There Was Shawn,” which saw Friedle’s character, Eric Matthews, get stuck in the school with brother Cory (Ben Savage), and friends Shawn (Rider Strong), Jack (Matthew Lawrence), Topanga (Danielle Fishel) and Angela (Trina McGee). Things take a turn for the worse when students, teachers and even the janitor start getting murdered by a mysterious masked killer.

Hewitt played Jennifer Love “Feffy” Fefferman on the sitcom’s meta-heavy 1998 episode — a play on her real name and ode to her I Know What You Did Last Summer character. After making out heavily against the lockers with Eric, challenging Angela to a “scream off” and making a reference to her own hit show Party of Five, Feffy ultimately meets her demise.

“Didn’t I get, like, hit by a bookcase or something?” Hewitt recalled to Us of how she was killed off. “Classic.”

While Hewitt admitted she was apprehensive about being able to nail the comedy — Party of Five was known for its more dramatic arcs — she ultimately had a great time shooting the episode.

“It was really fun and it was cute,” she told Us with a smile. “Like, I got to work with my boyfriend, I got to cheer him on! It was fun. I loved it.”

December 4, 2024   Jennifer   Comments Off on EatingWell Interview
Interviews

Jennifer Love Hewitt is a renowned actor, singer and writer—and a chocolate lover, as her recent partnership with Ferrero Rocher can attest. It’s an iconic candy for the holidays, and Hewitt tells EatingWell that being the face of the brand’s new Add Your Golden Touch campaign is “the perfect thing to do.”

“Ferrero Rocher is just one of those brands that has always been loved and is loved by so many,” The Holiday Junkie star shares. “I’ve been putting them in my kids’ lunch boxes, and they’ve been loving to unwrap them. It just says ‘festive.’ It says ‘holiday season.’”

In this exclusive interview, we asked Hewitt all about her favorite Christmas foods—plus her typical fitness routine and her go-to breakfast.

Do you have any holiday traditions that you look forward to each year?

On Christmas Eve, we always eat tamales. I’m from Texas, so that’s a tradition that my mom started when I was little. So now we do that in her honor. And then [my husband] Brian makes, what we call “Brian’s Famous Christmas Cocktail,” and he makes it every year. We don’t drink it any other time during the year; we wait until Christmas. We have it when the lights are on the tree and that’s our little cheers to the holiday season. It just always feels special.

Any favorite dinner dishes on your Christmas table?

Brian also makes really good pasta during Christmas. Christmas cookies are also a big thing for us with the kids. They absolutely love that.

Favorite Christmas cookie?

I love an oatmeal raisin, which I feel like is not normal for Christmas, but I love it. And since I have so much chocolate in my house, this weekend I’m making a really good peanut butter cookie and pressing a Ferrero Rocher chocolate in the middle. I’m making them for a girl’s night, I highly recommend that.

What’s your typical morning routine and how are you able to adjust it to your needs during the holiday season?

Well, I’m definitely going to use this holiday season to get more into a routine—it’s been such a busy year. I do have my stair climber machine that I love; it’s my moment to either watch a documentary or listen to music and just have a mom breather. The kids are always home during the holidays and they need a lot of attention, obviously. So I definitely try this time of year to find 45 minutes to an hour for myself. But we also do family workouts. We start with a fun walking workout with music for 20 minutes, and then we go and we do rotations of weights and pushups. I feel like kids also have a lot of extra energy that they don’t know what to do with over the holiday season, so we make it a family thing.

What does your go-to breakfast look like?

My favorite breakfast in the entire world is so plain and boring: it’s a piece of toast with a little bit of butter and a little bit of Manuka honey. That’s it. It’s my favorite thing in the world with a cup of coffee.

What does “eating well” mean to you?

Lots of sweet potatoes, lentils and veggies. That’s my favorite stuff in the world.
